Amazing Apple Pie
This is a very untraditional apple pie, but it came out absolutely amazing. I've never tasted such a yummy apple pie!
I got the recipe from Allrecipes.com but did modify it to my liking.
Ingredients:
1. Peel, core and slice 6-8 apples
2. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water, vanilla, white sugar and brown sugar, cinnamon, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.
3. Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over apples, pour slowly and make sure every piece is covered. Cover with other pie crust as desired (either lattice work or 4-slitted top). Make sure to poke holes on sides with a fork. Lightly brush egg whites on top of pie if you want a crispier crust.
4. Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Continue baking for 35 minutes until apples are soft.
5. Let cool for about 15-30 minutes. Enjoy with ice cream or whipped cream if desired :)
